FOX released their 2020-21 fall schedule on Monday and most notably, the network won’t be returning any live-action scripted series. Due to the impact that coronavirus is having on the television industry, including but not limited to questions surrounding when it’ll be safe to resume production, FOX is holding 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, The Resident, Prodigal Son, and Last Man Standing until midseason. Therefore, the FOX schedule is a mix and match of animation, acquired series, unscripted, and sports, as well as two leftovers from 2019-20.

Sundays will once again feature a lineup of The Simpsons, Bless the Harts, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy. The network also has animated comedies The Great North, Housebroken, and Duncanville in the works for next season, meaning that there could be an additional hour of animation come midseason. Monday is Spectrum Original drama L.A.’s Finest into Next, a 2019-20 leftover starring John Slattery as a Silicon Valley pioneer who discovers that one of his creations could spell global catastrophe. Spectrum only has nine-month exclusivity on Bad Boys spinoff L.A.’s Finest and series producer Sony was already in talks with FOX for second window rights when coronavirus hit. Instead of airing the series during the summer, the network decided to use it as a fall placeholder for 9-1-1.

Tuesday sees Cosmos sequel Cosmos: Possible Worlds, which recently wrapped a low-rated run on National Geographic, airing at 8:00, where it will serve as lead-in for southern gothic family soap Filthy Rich, starring Kim Cattrall. Like Next, the series was originally penciled in for a late spring/early summer premiere before the network opted to extend the cast’s contracts and use it in the fall. Wednesdays finds the next season of The Masked Singer, whose filming could wind up interrupted by coronavirus, leading into another cycle of MasterChef Junior.

The network will be issuing renewals and cancellations at a later date, while they still have intentions of filming every pilot on their slate.
