Kennedy’s next adventure takes her to The CW as part of the cast of The Secret Circle, which premieres Thursday night. Jessica plays “Melissa,” one of the members of the coven.
We caught up with Jessica briefly at the CW’s 2011 premiere party, and asked her a little bit about her role.

What can you tell us about your character Melissa?
Melissa is struggling right now. Her best friend is Faye, who is kind of the “bad girl” of our group. So I think she’s got a moral dilemma, between “Am I a bad girl too? Am I a good girl?” She’s dealing with love in her life right now, and also trying to work out the kinks of her power. Her powers, I should say.
How would you sell Secret Circle to the Smallville audience that would be reading this?
What’s great about The Secret Circle is it is so fantastical, and so was Smallville. There’s the powers and magic, and it’s exciting, and there’s bad guys… I think the big thing is that it’s really magical, and Smallville was a really magical set to be on.
Do you think that Melissa is eventually going to say “Faye, I’ve had enough?”
I think it’s very, very possible. I think that Melissa, in the first seven episodes, really comes into her own.
