On Saturday night, the cast of Teen Wolf made their way to the Comic-Con International in San Diego, and while there, they also took the time to speak with the press.
The roundtables were split with Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, and Crystal Reed at one table and Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, and Tyler Hoechlin at the next, and then they switched. You can find the Tyler-Dylan-Crystal chat here at KSiteTV later this week, but for now, enjoy reading what Holland, Colton, and Tyler H. had to say!

Don’t forget a new episode of Teen Wolf airs tonight at 10PM on MTV, and you can come talk about the show on our forum! The mystery of the Alpha should be solved soon!
The last few episodes there’s been a lot of crazy things happening with Jackson’s neck. Can you talk about that?
Colton Haynes: I think if you’ve been watching, you’ve seen the hallucinations and the crazy things that are going on physically with Jackson, and I think that… gosh, teasing, I’m the worst as this, because I give everything away… you know, what’s coming up with Jackson, is Jackson is obviously trying to figure out what Scott has and how Jackson to get it himself. I think we’re going to see Jackson’s hunt, in a way, to the extreme, to stick his nose in everyone’s business, and I think it’s about to get him in a lot of trouble. And we’ve said this before: Not everyone from the first season stays human, and not everyone lives, so someone makes a departure.
Lydia seems to have quite an appeal despite the crazy things she often says. What is it like to play a character like that?
Holland Roden: Well, she’s a delusional, sad girl. [laughs] I would say – and I’ve said this many times before, so maybe they can quote me, because they make fun of me all the time… I’m a big fan of Alexander Payne’s Election, okay? I liked her over Tracy Flick, and Violet Beauregard from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory… in that she is more of the brat than the queen bee. I’m a woman’s studies major from college, and I loved that Jeff incorporated that she’s the smartest girl in the school. I think there was someone that said that I was a “sexy teen terrorist.” Could you imagine that on CNBC? She is that genius savant that could go to the all-women’s prison, in the special Martha Stewart section, or she could be that senator, like one of the episodes said.
[It should be noted that Colton Haynes and Tyler Hoechlin mouthed along with the Violet Beauregard/Tracy Flick answer, which was quite humorous]
Colton: She’s got to hide it from Jackson.
Holland: Yeah. She dumbs herself down for guys, but I think that’s relatable with some girls in high school. But as far as the plotline goes, hopefully she’ll be a little bit more involved in the supernatural plotline. What I can say is that she’s still unaware of werewolves, and she continues to be unaware of werewolves, but she is important to werewolves.
Does that mean you just told us that Lydia is not the Alpha?
Holland: But there’s more than one!
It went from a love triangle to something like a love square and a love pentagon. Where would you like to see it go?
Holland: The relationships? I think that Jackson and Lydia’s love is real, because they have this odd sort of “be the first one to the finish line” [vibe] and yet they have this need to please, more than anyone else in the show. And so, I think that they have that in common, and they see that in each other. So, although it’s a surface high school couple, I think that they do have something real, and you’ll continue to see that, although we do break up in the next episode, which we can reveal. But their relationship is definitely not over.
I don’t know what Jeff has planned. This is me, Holland speaking. I think Stiles should get his wish.
Colton: She is saying that she would love to have a makeout scene with the Stiles character.
Holland: This is my coming out, that I have a huge crush on Dylan O’Brien.
Colton: I think you and fifty million girls.
Holland: So that’s where I would like to see it go. I’d like for her to become a little more human and rational, and I think Stiles would do that for her.
Have you made a purposeful effort to make Jackson more relatable as time has gone on?
Colton: It’s interesting, because when you see the scenes where Jackson’s being a jerk, it’s never to Allison. So when Jackson warms up to Allison, I think it’s with some ulterior motives in the beginning, but I think he starts to kind of like her. But also – there are kids in your high school who are the big jerk in school, but really, they’re hiding a lot of emotion inside. So, Jackson – I mean, he’s starting to unravel. And also, because he was adopted, he’s trying to impress the father he never had. So, that’s a really big thing for Jackson, to always be on top of the social status. I think that as the season goes on, he’s letting his guard down. That’s why you’re seeing a little more of Jackson – who he is inside, coming out a little bit. But, you know, he’s definitely still going to continue being the jerk, I think.
Right now the show is focus is on werewolves. Are you open to seeing other supernatural creatures?
Tyler Hoechlin: There will never be vampires. I think vampires may be nixed, but other supernatural creatures, I think there’s an open mind. It could happen.
Colton: It’s more just mutations or werewolves. You will also have to keep in mind, the way people are turned. Can they be turned by a scratch? Can they be turned by a bite?
Tyler: The thing that we’ve talked about too, is that it’s just a shift from human to werewolf. We call them shape-shifters. I think they’ve been very open about calling them shape-shifters, because it does effect the mythology that we play with with this show. Jeff has done a good job of being creative, and leaving his options open. So we never know what’s coming next.
Holland: Traditionally, there’s the mythology that we’ve most familiar with, and he’s always said that we would incorporate different cultures, for a lot of what their werewolves [are like].
Tyler: So there could be mutations of werewolves that could be hybrids. We don’t know.
What is your production schedule like?
Colton: We film three at a time. So one day, we could be doing Episodes 3, 4, and 5.
Holland: And then re-shoots for something that’s further down the block.
Tyler: It’s mainly for the fact that we have to do the werewolf makeup, and it takes time, so that way, we could do a werewolf scene for Episode 1, 2, and 3 all in the same day, as opposed to doing three hours of makeup [each time].
How long does the makeup take?
Tyler: My first couple times in the makeup, it was a five-hour process. We narrowed that down to about a two and a half hour process, once we had it the way we wanted it and liked it. So, for me and Posey now, it’s usually about two to two and a half hours. His is a little bit shorter than mine.
