Hulu and ITV2 have announced that they’ve partnered on Zomboat!, a six-episode comedy centering on a zombie apocalypse.
“ITV2 is committed to comedy for younger audiences and we’re delighted to partner with Hulu and Noho Productions to add this fantastically high-concept, home-grown comedy adventure series to our slate,” Paul Mortimer, ITV2 head of digital channels and acquisitions, said.
From Adam Miller (Flack) and Will Hartley (Tracey Breaks the News), Zomboat! follows sisters Kat and Jo as they try to flee for their lives via canal boat after the zombie apocalypse is unleashed. Along with unlikely travel companions Amar, an upbeat gym bunny, and misanthrope Sunny, the two find themselves trapped in cramped quarters and soon realize there is no escaping the problems of everyday life, even in a zombie apocalypse.
This will be the second time Hulu and ITV are working together, the first being period drama Harlots. Zomboat!‘s premise isn’t the first time a British series has found an unusual angle to tell a zombie apocalypse story; one such example is Charlie Brooker’s Dead Set, a 2008 serial that followed a zombie outbreak that stranded the cast and crew of a Big Brother UK season on set.
Zomboat! will premiere on ITV2 this fall and Hulu later on in the year.
