Before we all knew him as the young Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory prequel series Young Sheldon, actor Iain Armitage was known for reviewing theater on his YouTube channel “Iain Loves Theatre.” In May, Young Sheldon signs off after five seasons… but knowing how successful Iain has been in the role, combined with his love of theater, could we see him reprising the role someday, perhaps on stage?
That was the question that KSiteTV asked Iain at today’s Warner Bros. Studio Day portion of the Television Critics Association press tour, specifically if it might be, say, the adult version of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory in about 10 more years.
“That would be incredible,” Iain enthused. “You’ve got that in my mind – I’m picturing that now! I’d love to, so much,” he said. However… he did have a requirement.
“Jim [Parsons] would have to be there too, of course,” he added, referring to the actor who originated the role on The Big Bang Theory who also happens to narrate and executive producer Young Sheldon. “He’s an incredible theater actor. I actually got to see him in A Man of No Importance last year. That would be awesome. I’d love that!”
The final season of Young Sheldon airs Thursdays on CBS, with the Season 7 premiere airing on February 15. See pictures from the season premiere here!
