If it wasn’t enough being a creator and an executive producer of many hit shows, Chuck Lorre also is known for his special vanity cards that appear at the end of episodes of his series. The legendary producer and writer whose current hit CBS comedies include Young Sheldon, Bob Hearts Abishola, B Positive, and United States of Al is well-known for expressing his thoughts and views through personal messages in the split-second vanity cards which appear at the end of his shows.
Following tonight’s landmark 100th episode of Young Sheldon, Chuck Lorre dropped his 700th vanity card, appropriately congratulating Young Sheldon on reaching #100. A half hour later, United States of Al featured another Lorre vanity card, the 701st, this time poking fun at the 700th vanity card.
For 25 years, Lorre has devoted exactly one second of airtime per show to expressing his deepest thoughts and humorous musings at the end of the credits on his now-infamous vanity cards. The tradition began with Dharma and Greg and continued with Lorre’s other smash hit comedies including Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly, and Mom as well as current hits Young Sheldon, Bob Hearts Abishola, B Positive and United States of Al. The entire collection can be viewed online at http://chucklorre.com/. In 2012, Lorre compiled select cards into a book titled What Doesn’t Kill Us Makes Us Bitter. All of Lorre’s proceeds from the sale of the book benefited many health care–related charities and educational efforts, including the Venice Family Clinic.
Celebrating its 100th episode, the fifth season of Young Sheldon airs Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS. The third season of Bob Hearts Abishola airs Mondays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS. The second season of United States of Al airs Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS. The second season of B Positive recently concluded, also on CBS. You can see both vanity cards (#700 and #701) below.
