Before there were Heroes, well before there were Powers, even before the original Tomorrow People were a thing – Marvel’s uncanny X-Men made being super-powered outcasts cool.
Now, while the movie division of FOX pushes ahead with their X-Men franchise, TVInsider.com has confirmed that an X-Men live action TV series could be in the works for FOX — though, they note, it may still require Marvel’s blessing and signing off on the deal.
“It’s in negotiations,” FOX Chairman Gary Newman confirmed. “We’re cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “creative” may already be found — though FOX is confirming nothing, 24 producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto are involved and would share a “created by” credit with the Star Trek 3 team of Patrick McKay and JD Payne.
Needless to say, with the right characters, an X-Men or X-Men-related series could be amazing. Stay tuned for more details if and when they become available.
