The Nexstar-CW axe has fallen on two more shows – The Winchesters is done after one season, and in other sad news, The CW is ending Kung Fu after three years.
“As we reimagine the new CW, we had to make some tough programming decisions,” The CW said in a statement. “We thank our partners at Warner Bros. and the casts and creative teams of Kung Fu and The Winchesters for all their hard work, creativity and dedication.”
Deadline is reporting that The Winchesters will be shopped to other outlets, though how successful that will be remains to be seen.
The Winchesters was a sort of prequel to the long-running Supernatural series; Kung Fu was a reimagining of the TV classic and one of the few series with an Asian-American family at the center.
The fates of All American: Homecoming, Superman & Lois, and Gotham Knights are still to be determined at The CW, which seems determined to go forward with Canadian TV imports and reality TV programming as they look to the future. Before today, The CW has only renewed All American and Walker from the old regime.
