ABC has cancelled freshman drama Whiskey Cavalier, series star Scott Foley revealed on his Instagram today.
The news isn’t a surprise given the show’s weak Live + Same Day ratings and how ABC doesn’t own it. The network seemed to be big on it and had they produced the series instead of Warner Bros., they maybe could’ve made it work. But it was simply too expensive for ABC to continue with.
From David Hemingson (The Catch), with Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) executive producing, Whiskey Cavalier followed FBI Agent Will Chase as he was assigned to work with CIA Agent Frankie Trowbridge. Together, the two led an inter-agency team of spies through a series of international missions.
In addition to Foley, the series starred Lauren Cohan, Ana Ortiz, Vir Das, Tyler James Williams, and Josh Hopkins. Its cancellation makes it only the third drama ABC cancelled this season, joining anthology The Fix and legal drama For the People.
The series finale of Whiskey Cavalier is set to air Wednesday, May 22nd at 10:00 on ABC.
