Cinemax has set a Friday, April 5th at 10:00 premiere date for crime drama Warrior.
Based on the writings of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, with Jonathan Tropper (Banshee) developing for television, Warrior follows the San Francisco Tong Wars during the second half of the 19th century through the eyes of martial arts prodigy Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji). The series will chronicle Sahm’s rise to become hatchet man for one of the leading Chinese crime families in the city.
In addition to Koji, Warrior stars Kieran Bew (Da Vinci’s Demons), Olivia Cheng (Arrow), Dianne Doan (Vikings), Dean Jagger (White Christmas), Langley Kirkwood (Dominion), Hoon Lee (Banshee), Christian McKay (Frontier), Joe Taslim (The Raid: Redemption), Jason Tobin (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift), Joanna Vanderham (What Maisie Knew), Tom Weston-Jones (Copper), and Perry Yung (John Wick: Chapter 2).
Warrior joins a scripted slate for Cinemax that includes Strike Back and Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the Tour Bus. It’s one of several new series yet to debut on the premium cable network including British series Gangs of London and Carla Gugino-starrer Jett.
