History has released more looks at the upcoming fifth season of Vikings and in them, we see the tension between Ragnar’s remaining sons over the power left behind by their father and Floki reaching land after setting sail following Helga’s death.
Season five ofVikingsfinds the sons of Ragnar squaring off against one another for supremacy over their people.As aggressive and angry as ever, Ivar is still keyed in on taking down Lagertha for the murder of Aslaug, whereas Ubbe, Bjorn, and Hvitserk look to seek justice for Sigurd’s death at the hands of their brother.Meanwhile, Lagertha, feeling pressure to retain her throne amid a sea of change and unsettled that the fallout from Ragnar’s death has yet to subside, reaches out to Ubbe for an alliance that could protect her against an incoming invasion from King Harald.A lot is at stake without Ragnar around anymore and each of his sons, along with his first wife, are hell-bent on seizing as much of the power up for grabs as they can, no matter what it takes.
Joining the cast this season are Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors) as religious warrior priest Bishop Heahmund; Adam Copeland (Haven) as Kietill Flatnose, a warrior chosen to be one of the leaders of the party heading to Iceland; and Kris Holden-Ried (Lost Girl) as important Kattegat warrior Eyvind, who decides to settle his family in a new land.
The two-hour fifth season premiere of Vikings is set to air Wednesday, November 29th at 9:00 on History. The series has already been renewed for a 20-episode sixth season.
