History has released a full-length trailer for the return of Vikings season four and in it, we see that not everyone is happy to see Ragnar Lothbrok standing.
After being defeated by Rollo in Paris, Ragnar’s disappearance, motivated by some combination of shame and sorrow, was thought to be permanent. Considering that Bjorn and Aslaug now know about what happened with the English settlement, as well as the fact that Ragnar has another son in Wessex, it might’ve been better had Ragnar stayed away from the town he once called home, but Ragnar is not one to back down from a tough situation, nor is he willing to be boxed in by the court of public opinion. No matter what anyone thinks about him, no matter how terrified The Seer gets at the cloud of destruction forming over the tiny village, Ragnar is going to exercise his power for as long as he has it and use the vast resources at his disposal to take care of unfinished business in Wessex. It’s now up to his sons to decide whether they’re willing to fall in line behind their father or if they’re ready to come at the king and take what’s theirs by birthright.
Joining the cast for the second half of the season will be The Tudors alum Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, whose role, which will reportedly spill over into a fifth season, has yet to be revealed.
The second part of Vikings season four will premiere this fall. A concrete air date should be announced in the coming weeks.
Will you be watching Vikings this fall? How much destruction will Ragnar’s return force Kattegat to endure? Is now the time that one of Ragnar’s sons officially usurps his power?
