The Vampire Diaries episode “Hell Is Other People” just ended on the East Coast, and as we saw, the ending was pretty brutal.

    Is anyone dead?

“If they did [die], the show would pretty much be cancelled with that last scene,” Executive Producer Caroline Dries laughed in a Q&A that followed a screening of tonight’s episode.

But what really happened is that we are seeing that even though Damon has escaped Hell, you’re a changed person when you escape the Phoenix Stone. “The decisions that you make as a result of that don’t necessarily reflect the decisions you would have made before you go in there,” Dries teased. “What we get to see in the next episode is [that] Damon really, really, really messed things up, and Stefan, who had his own journey that we didn’t see and we’re not going to see the way we saw it with Damon, Stefan’s been through that, and we’re trying to create a little bit of intrigue.”

“Stefan has survived it, and Stefan’s learned some lessons from it, but can Stefan warn Damon in time with what it means to actually get out of there? It’s sort of like Damon’s Hell on Earth, now,” Dries said.

Looking farther into the future… is there any truth to the rumors that Nina Dobrev could be back by season’s end?

“No,” Caroline Dries answered. “I would say if the CW called today and said ‘by the way, Season 7 is the last season,’ then we would scramble to make sure she was in the finale. But as of right now, we are acting as if the show will go on, so, no.”

The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8PM on The CW.

That was quite an ending. But The Originals was the stand-out of the night. So heartbreaking. Still thinking about it.

The Originals was quite good; I agree!
