The CW has released their official spoiler description for “1912,” the return episode of The Vampire Diaries airing on March 15. Smallville’s Cassidy Freeman, who played Tess Mercer in the final three seasons of the series, makes her first appearance as a new character named Sage.
We were part of a group interview with TVD Executive Producer Julie Plec where she talked a little bit about what to expect. “The episode is called ‘1912,’ and it is a time about a hundred years ago that I like to call as when Damon was still the Damon that walked out the door in a huff of disappointment and piousness, when his brother was out of control in 1864, and somewhere between 1864 and the pilot episode, Damon became the Damon that we know and love, and this episode kind of gives us a little glimpse into that, and what this character Sage, played by Cassidy, had to do with it,” Plec said.
Here’s the description:
THE MURDER MYSTERY DEEPENS — The present-day murders in Mystic Falls remind Damon (Ian Somerhalder) of a similar crime spree a century earlier. In flashbacks to 1912, Damon recalls a beautiful vampire, Sage (guest star Cassidy Freeman), who showed him a whole new way to exist. Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) warns Damon not to get involved in her investigation, but Damon is convinced she’s going after the wrong suspect. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Matt (Zach Roerig) resort to breaking and entering in their search for evidence to prove Dr. Fell (guest star Torrey Devitto) is a murderer. For reasons known only to her, Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt), becomes interested in locating one of the town’s oldest landmarks. Finally, Elena comes to a new understanding of the path her life has taken, and Damon makes an emotional confession to Stefan (Paul Wesley).

Is it the 8th or the 15th that the episode airs?
The 15th. The “March 8” thing was a typo from when I first prepared the article; it was wrong.
