A new Vampire Diaries airs tonight at 8PM (ET) on The CW, and KSiteTV was able to attend a screening and Q&A for the episode on Wednesday afternoon. The episode is called “Do Not Go Gentle,” and you’re probably wondering what there is to expect from this episode. Fortunately, we’re here to help!
It’s A Trap! First off, no one at Mystic Falls High ever seems to learn, because they’re all attending ANOTHER Mystic Falls dance/costume party. There’s a reference made to how those never go well, but seriously, how many times have things gone this badly in how many years? Anyway, a barrier of salt is spread around the school’s perimeter, leaving Stefan, Damon, Caroline, and Klaus all stuck within the school. It’s left to humans Matt and Jeremy, armed with a rifle and a crossbow, to [hopefully] save the day.
Caroline Ships “Stelena” (Stefan & Elena). Caroline encourages Elena to go to the dance with Stefan. “Caroline is such a Stelena worshipper,” a playful Candice Accola says about the reasons why Caroline might swing that way. “And also, Damon and Caroline wouldn’t have the cleanest past of the bunch either. So yeah. I think that she just recognizes that Stefan is someone good for Elena, and she is rooting for her to open her eyes and give him a chance. I think Caroline, deep down, does have that little ‘He is the best for you. He is your epic true love. I’m not going to let you just throw him away because you’re getting distracted by shiny Damon things’.” On a similar note… “Stelena shippers” who might not have liked last week’s show too much will definitely have that made up to them this week.
Bonnie’s New Date. Romance is in the cards for Bonnie and Jamie (Robert Ri’chard), as she brings him as her date to the dance. But how long will that last when she sees Jeremy in attendance, and what will happen once Klaus roughs Jamie up a little?
Klaus & Tyler Both Want Caroline. Tyler shows up for the dance, looking like a gangster in a fedora, and Klaus also attends upon his “sister’s” urging, hoping to use it as another chance to woo Caroline. There’s some good alpha-male snark, as well as some mockery about painting horses. All in all, it’s really good dialogue between them in an increasingly dangerous situation, and it’s a conflict that will probably go on for a while… assuming they all survive.
There’s A Reason It’s Called “Do Not Go Gentle.” Have tissue boxes handy, because someone might not make it out of this episode alive. Very somber music mixed with a gathering of nearly every regular character on the series doesn’t help to stop the water works. Definitely one of the moments of the series that will always be remembered.
After the show airs tonight, come by KSiteTV for a post-mortem with thoughts about tonight’s episode (and beyond!) with Julie Plec, Michael Trevino, Candice Accola, Zach Roerig, and Steven R. McQueen. The “Do Not Go Gentle” sub-forum is now set up on the KSiteTV Forum… we’d love to have you for the countdown thread, and to discuss the aftermath of the show. Thanks for reading! We’ll leave you with some images from tonight’s show if you’re still on the fence:
