Deadline is reporting that Christina Ochoa (Animal Kingdom) has signed on to be co-lead of The CW’s military conspiracy pilot Valor. She’ll be playing helicopter pilot Nora, an intense and highly driven member of the Night Raiders special ops unit.
From Kyle Jarrow (The Lost Generation), Valor follows the goings-on at a United States Army base that houses an elite crew of helicopter pilots. The series will focus on pilots Gallo (Matt Barr) and Nora, currently training for a Somali rescue mission meant to bring home captured American servicemen. What the Army doesn’t know, though, is that the two have a secret about the mission that landed their brothers in this situation, a secret they’re both willing to do anything to protect.
In addition to her role on the TNT drama, Ochoa has appeared on the likes of Matador, The Neighbors, and Modern Family. She joins a cast that includes Charlie Barnett (Chicago Fire) and W. Tre Davis (Shades of Blue).
Valor is one of six CW pilots currently in contention for 2017-18, joining DC-verse entrant Black Lightning, fantasy drama Searchers, beauty pageant drama Insatiable, cancer dramedy Life Sentence, and soapy reboot Dynasty. Decisions on which of the six make it to series, and which current CW shows have their runs end this season, should come down in early May.
