MTV has revealed the lineup for the third episode of its upcoming TRL reboot’s launch week. Joining the party will be pop princess Demi Lovato and buzzworthy rapper Lil Uzi Vert, both of whom join series premiere performers Ed Sheeran and Migos, as well as episode two performers PRETTYMUCH, Playboi Carti, and Noah Cyrus.
Debuting in 1997 as subduedTotal Requestbefore becomingTotal Request Live(orTRL),TRLran for a decade on MTV and gave Carson Daly the platform to eventually land his NBC late-night show and subsequent hosting gig onThe Voice. Known for generating massive Times Square crowds,creating unpredictable moments, and those infamousshout outsin the middle of videos, the show was the network’s prime outlet for music videos and fostered music culture at a time before MTV was a primarily unscripted network.
Hosted by D.C.Young Fly and the TRL squad which includes Tamara Dhia, Amy Pham, Erik Zachary, Lawrence Jackson and content creators such as Liza Koshy and The Dolan Twins, the revival ofTRL, part of MTV’s recent push to re-embrace its music roots through live programming, is set to premiere Monday, October 2nd at 3:30 on MTV.
