AMC has revealed that the fifth season of mega-hit The Walking Dead is set to premiere Sunday, October 12th at 9:00. Unscripted series Talking Dead and Comic Book Men will follow at 10:00 and midnight, respectively, while the second half of The Walking Dead‘s fifth season will premiere February 2015.
“From the opening tease in the premiere onward, season 5 is without question the most ambitious and satisfying season this amazing team has ever crafted,” said Charlie Collier, AMC president. “In the zombie apocalypse, event television is alive and well, and I am proud to acknowledge that this uniquely talented writing staff, production team and cast have once again raised the bar (and the crossbow).”
The network also released the first extended trailer for season five, which showcases the goings-on at Terminus after Rick was reunited with nearly every member of his group bar Carol and Tyreese in the closing moments of season four. Season five of The Walking Dead will see The Wire alum Seth Gilliam join the cast in a role whose details are currently being kept under wraps, as well as recurring players Andrew J. West, Alanna Masterson, and Christian Serratos promoted to series regulars.
