Remember when Rupert Giles was the coolest grown-up on The WB? Didn’t you think Anthony Head made an interesting King on Merlin?
The CW is surely hoping for those fond memories as the former Giles and King Uther has been cast in Pilot #2 of The Selection, another CW pilot hoping for a slot on the 2013-2014 schedule. In the retooled Selection, Head plays King Clarkson, patriarch of the royal family that rules the nation. No word yet on if he’s banned magic from the kingdom. I joke.
The Hollywood Reporter posted the exclusive on his casting earlier today.
Anthony Head joins Michael Malarkey as the King’s son, Prince Maxon, that the other characters are vying to be with. Also cast in the retooled project are Yael Grobglas as America Singer and Lucien Laviscount as Aspen. The Selection pilot is based on a book by Kiera Cass, which can be purchased on Amazon.com here.
