Season 2 of The Originals starts up this evening, and there’s a bit to look forward to in tonight’s opener, which is called “Rebirth.”
Here are some teases:
– While Klaus and Elijah remain in New Orleans, Marcel and Josh are looking to build an army across the way. There’s a cool set used for their headquarters, and we see some other characters visiting them there. Josh learns some lessons about what long-time vampires might see as their lot in life.
– There’s a record store owner that we meet in this episode, and if you remember what I said about those who have been vampires for a long time, this is a perfect example. Having a character like this adds some humanity to the show, and proves that The Originals is a much deeper show than it needs to be.
– Klaus cares. He claims he doesn’t, but he totally does. Which probably pisses him off. He also wants his power back. Because he’s Klaus, and what is Klaus without power?
– On the surface, it seems that Davina is headed for a more normal life. She even meets a new boy – Kaleb – played by Teen Wolf’s Daniel Sharman. How long do we all think that normalcy will last?
– What is Esther up to? And with Mikael around, how long will it be before we see them together again, no matter what bodies they happen to be in?
That’s not revealing a lot, but there IS a lot going on in tonight’s show. 8PM on The CW. The Originals has quickly evolved into one of the best shows on The CW, and the opener is a good point to jump on. It might be difficult to get in the habit of watching on Monday nights, but for fans, it’s worth it.
