Hulu has released a trailer for upcoming space drama The First and in it, we see that big dreams can require big sacrifices.
From Beau Willimon (House of Cards), The First follows a group of astronauts who, under the direction of visionary aerospace magnate Laz Ingram (Natascha McElhone), attempt to become the first humans on Mars. The series chronicles the crew’s personal sacrifices in pursuit of this dream and how the path to outer space is paved with the type of strife they never expected.
In addition to McElhone, The First stars Sean Penn (Mystic River), LisaGay Hamilton (The Practice), Hannah Ware (Betrayal), Keiko Agena (Gilmore Girls), Rey Lucas (Orange Is the New Black), James Ransone (Sinister), Anna Jacoby-Heron (Finding Carter), Brian Lee Franklin (Godless), and Oded Fehr (Stitchers).
It joins a scripted slate for Hulu that includes Marvel’s Runaways, Future Man, The Handmaid’s Tale, Harlots, and Find Me in Paris.
Will you be watching? How do you think this will compare to fellow space dramas Origin and Nightflyers? Is this show going to further Hulu’s scripted brand after the success of The Handmaid’s Tale?
