Variety is reporting that a Spanish-language spinoff of The Boys titled The Boys: Mexico is in development and that Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal are in talks to executive produce. The writer attached is Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer who penned this summer’s Blue Beetle feature film.
If it happens, this could be the fourth show in The Boys franchise, with Gen V and the animated The Boys Presents: Diabolical project as two offshoots that we’ve already seen from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video. Gen V was a recent hit for Prime Video and has already been greenlit for a second season. No details about The Boys: Mexico are really known at this time, but it is said it will be shot in Mexico, and that Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal might appear in minor roles.
The Boys franchise is adapted from the Dynamite Comics series written by Garth Ennis and drawn by Darick Robertson.
