Freeform has released the first full length trailer for upcoming summer drama The Bold Type and in it, we see the magazine industry is as lively as it’s ever been.
Based on the life of former Cosmopolitan editor Joanna Coles, The Bold Type follows the goings-on at immensely successful women’s magazine Scarlet and how co-workers Kat, Jane, and Sutton deal with love, life, identity, fashion, and everything in between, all the while cultivating friendships that help ease a tense professional environment.
Created by Sarah Watson (Parenthood), The Bold Type stars Aisha Dee (Chasing Life), Katie Stevens (Faking It), Meghann Fahy (One Life to Live), Sam Page (Self/less), and Melora Hardin (Transparent).
The Bold Type joins a scripted drama slate for Freeform that includes The Fosters, Famous in Love, and Shadowhunters. The series will be the second attempt at a fashion drama for the network formerly known as ABC Family, which aired (underrated) Jane by Design in 2012.
The two-hour series premiere of The Bold Type airs Tuesday, July 11th at 9:00 on Freeform.
Will you be watching The Bold Type? Do you think this fashion drama will stick where Jane by Design didn’t? Are you glad that Freeform is still making lighter dramas vs. leaning into some of its darker material?
