Romantic drama The Baker and the Beauty has been cancelled by ABC, it was confirmed today.
The news comes two weeks to the day following the show’s two-hour season (now series) finale. It had been left on the bubble along with legal drama For Life as ABC evaluated its performance and assessed its scheduling needs for an upcoming season already beset by production delays.
Despite positive reviews, The Baker and the Beauty had soft L+SD ratings, averaging a 0.47 in the 18-49 demo and ranking as one of ABC’s least watched dramas. It didn’t generate the type of support For Life had in non-linear measures or on social media and even though it arguably looked better than some of their other renewals considering scheduling and promotion, it didn’t do enough to justify a renewal, even one for summer 2021.
The cancellation of The Baker and the Beauty leaves the 2019-20 bubble at five series – Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene at The CW and a fleet of NBC series including Indebted, Manifest, Council of Dads, and Bluff City Law.
In addition to Kelley and Rasuk, The Baker and the Beauty starred Carlos Gomez, Dan Bucatinsky, Lisa Vidal, Belissa Escobedo, Michelle Veintimilla, and David Del Rio.

It’s unfortunate abc cancelled this show, it was great with a great cast representing the latino culture. I hope it gets picked up by a streaming service like hulu, netflix or peacocktv because it deserves more seasons so that storylines can be developed.
