TNT has announced that psychological thriller The Alienist is set to premiere Monday, January 22nd at 9:00.
Based on the Caleb Carr novel of the same name and developed for television by Hossein Amini (Drive), The Alienist follows newly appointed police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt (Brian Geraghty) as he struggles dealing with a recent string of gruesome child prostitute murders. His back against the wall, Theodore calls up criminal psychologist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Bruhl) and newspaper reporter John Moore (Luke Evans) to conduct an investigation into the murders.
In addition to Geraghty, Bruhl, and Evans, The Alienist stars Dakota Fanning (I Am Sam), Douglas Smith (Big Love), Matt Lintz (Pixels), Robert Ray Wisdom (Face/Off), and Q’orianka Kilcher (The New World). The series, part of the network’s rebrand toward edgier content, joins a scripted roster for TNT that includes Claws, Good Behavior, and Animal Kingdom.
