Disney Channel has announced that family comedy Sydney to the Max has been renewed for a second season, which will begin production this summer.
“Mark Reisman and his team of talented writers, along with the top-notch cast, delivered a show that has quickly become an audience favorite for Disney Channel,” said Nancy Kanter, EVP Content and Creative at Disney Channels Worldwide. “With its playful nod to growing up in the ’90s, the series strikes a chord with anyone who’s ever experienced their own ‘growing pains.’ We look forward to having our viewers see what’s in store for the Reynolds family next season.”
From Mark Reisman (Frasier), Sydney to the Max follows Sydney Reynolds (Ruth Righi), a middle schooler who lives with her single dad Max (Ian Reed Kesler) and grandmother Judy (Caroline Rhea), as she navigates life with her best friend. The series juxtaposes Sydney’s growing pains with those of Max through flashbacks to Max growing up in the same house in the ’90s.
In addition to Righi, Kesler, and Rhea, Sydney to the Max stars Jackson Dollinger, Ava Kolker, and Christian J. Simon. It’s part of a live-action scripted slate for Disney that includes Andi Mack, returning for its final episodes in June, as well as Raven’s Home, Bunk’d, and Coop & Cami Ask the World.
The second half of Sydney to the Max season one is set to premiere Tuesday, June 18th at 8:00 on Disney Channel.
