This isn’t the first time this has happened, but this time, it seems likely to stick: Deadline is reporting that CBS has canceled their Shemar Moore-starring series S.W.A.T.. The current eighth season will be the series’ last.
S.W.A.T. comes from an outside producer in Sony, which may be one of several reasons why the show is ending at this time. Additionally, CBS is sure to be looking for some Friday night real estate to accommodate more NCIS: Sydney, Sheriff Country, and/or their Blue Bloods-related show Boston Blue.
Situations like these make us continually wonder why Sony hasn’t invested in a broadcast TV network, or at least teamed up with another studio to create one. For now, though, it seems the adventures of Hondo & company are ending this year.
