Misha Collins returns to Supernatural tomorrow night, March 23, and KSiteTV’s Craig Byrne just got back from a special screening hosted by The CW.
There are, of course, things we cannot reveal… but thankfully, there’s also plenty that we are allowed to talk about! Here are six things to look forward to.
1. Sam haunted by Lucifer. A lot of the publicity material for the episode seems to highlight the return of Misha Collins as someone who at least looks like Castiel – but the story of Sam is also very important here, to answer some questions we were getting on Twitter. Mark Pellegrino appears in this episode and is doing all he can to annoy Sam while he is hospitalized in a state of no sleep. While being treated, Sam meets a girl who has her own supernatural issue. The balance between Sam-story and Dean-story in this episode is a good one.
And did we mention Lucifer is annoying? Because, yeah. And I mean that in a good way – that is exactly what the character needed from the story.
2. Dean on his own. Without Sam to rely on, Dean looks everywhere for help, and is eventually sent to a man who looks suspiciously like Castiel who seems to be doing some amazing things. Seeing Dean opposite this character (played by Misha Collins) is quite different from the usual brotherly interaction we see from Dean, and he appears to be taken out of his comfort zone. Losing Bobby, Cas, and the many other support systems they had is forcing the brothers to do a lot more, and when one brother is missing from the equation, it makes the job all the more difficult.
3. Meg! Rachel Miner returns as Meg, and she’s about as different as you get from Misha’s character. While Misha’s character is a bit confused and naive, Meg is bold and blunt. Seeing Dean, Meg, and Misha’s character side-by-side in a car that looks a lot like the Impala looks like what would happen if Bo, Luke, and Daisy Duke went to Hell. It’s incredibly awkward but equally awesome.
4. Effects. There are some nice looking effects in this episode. I know that isn’t a plot point, but it still impressed.
5. Familiar Canadian faces! Look for Ryan McDonnell, “Stuart” from later episodes of Smallville, within.
6. Great lines. Sera Gamble wrote this one, and if you have Dean, Lucifer, Meg, and Misha Collins all in the same episode, you’re bound to have some good lines, as they all have some hilarious delivery. (Sam, meanwhile, seems too busy being driven crazy to be too witty this week!)
“The Born-Again Identity” is the perfect thing to kick off the final episodes of Supernatural’s seventh season. It’s worth seeing if you’ve lapsed, and I think it will be a favorite. Below are some images from the episode:

Thanks for your cool article! I’m really looking forward to tomorrow- sounds like it’s going to be awesome! (And a special “thanks” for mentioning Dean. While Sam and Cas are getting a lot of understandable online press for this episode, it’s really nice to hear about what Dean’ll be up to as well!)
Okay, we should look forward to Sam, Dean, Meg, Effects, Familiar Canadian Faces and Sera Gamble’s writing.
Should we not also look forward to Castiel’s return and Lucifer?
Confused here!
The article is called “six things about…” just six random things. Of course there is more.
I think both Misha’s return as well as the return of Lucifer are included within those “six things.”
Thanks for the teasers!
Also, let me echo susie’s thanks for actually talking about Dean!
I’m very much looking forward to the Dean-Castiel scenes! From the clip I saw, Jensen and Misha are going to be amazing in tomorrow’s episode.
Thanks for the article. I wish there was something more to look forward for Dean than the usual worrying about Sam, again.
I will look forward to the Dean and Cas reunion, but not much else. Especially since the episode was written by Gamble, who seems to dislike both Dean and Cas.
Thanks so much for mentioning Sam here! Sam’s story has been forgotten all season long, to the point where Sam has been taking more care of Dean than he has himself, but no one cares how Sam feels about anything. Not even going crazy and experiencing 180 years of torture – Sam is supposed to be this teflon robot with no feelings all the time, and his life has been at least as bad as Dean’s, if not worse. Sam just needs a real friend of his own, because SPN has never given him one.
Wow! I thought the fandom was finally purged of the whining fans. Guess some of you forgot this show is about two brothers Sam and Dean. Not Castiel or Castiel and Dean. Of course Dean is going to worry about his brother just like Sam worries about him and who has been Deans lifeline a good part of this season. It is after all a show about love of family after all and its pretty sad some of you have still missed that point after almost 7 seasons.
Thank you Craig Byrne for telling us about the episode
A lot of the publicity material for the episode seems to highlight the return of Misha Collins as someone who at least looks like Castiel – but the story of Sam is also very important here
THANK YOU!! I am thrilled to hear this. I was worried that once again, although they make it about Sam, they don’t SHOW Sam and his p.o.v.–we just see others reacting to his problems.
I hope we get at least some brother moments, since that’s what SPN is about–the Winchester brothers.
I’m looking forward to seeing Castiel again and Lucifer. I couldn’t believe it when I saw Meg was going to be there too. I wonder if Cass still has the moves he learned from the “pizza man”. Ha! Cannot wait for tonight.
boring stupid and it looks like that supernatural is done… dont misunderstood me, i love super natural but it seems to run out of material and the leviathan thing seems to be too delayed… probably the producers want a force an extra season… i am sorry to predict but this is their last season.
i mean come on, now castiel is back from the dead and ends up lock up in a mental hospital with MEG!!! that is a sad final for such an important character…
