Interesting news from Deadline.com today, where it is said that Supernatural’s current co-showrunner and Executive Producer Sera Gamble will be stepping down after this season and a new co-showrunner has been tapped.
Taking her place is said to be Jeremy Carver, who left the series in recent years and most recently was a showrunner for Syfy’s adaptation of Being Human. Carver was the writer of several Supernatural fan-favorite episodes including “A Very Supernatural Christmas,” “In The Beginning,” “Changing Channels,” and “Free To Be You And Me.” If this happens, Robert Singer will be staying on as co-showrunner.
The CW has not yet made a formal announcement about Season 8 of Supernatural. The notion that the studio is thinking about the show’s future, and that they are staffing for Fall 2012, could and should be taken as a good sign. The Vampire Diaries has also recently added new staff, even though Vampire Diaries Season 4 has also not yet been announced.

I just hope Jeremy Carver doesn’t make the same mistakes all over again. SPN feels like it’s never had anyone in charge of it, not even when Kripke was here.
I also don’t want Sam side lined yet again for more Dean Angst. I’m ready to shove the marbles in Dean’s lead box down his throat if they do fall out. Maybe that would stop him yammering about himself all the time.
I would love for Sam to finally get his Return from Hell storyline served straight up and front and center. It’s been 2 seasons and they really botched it up. Fix this One Thing, please! Also, please let the boys talk to each other like brothers who know each other again. Let them talk like real people do, like in the first few seasons. The brother’s relationship is the heart and soul of the show and we need to see it for real again.
It’s amazing how people can see completely diff things. I don’t even know what show you are watching.
please, bring jareds bangs back, and stop dressing the brothers as if they were in their forties.
I don’t feel Sam was ever sidelined, especially with Gamble in charge making sure that Sam had all the stories, that Sam was always the central character, that Sam had the focus. It’s been Dean who has been sidelined for the past 2 1/2 seasons and the only reason he was always angstying is because of Sam. Sam without a soul, Sam drinking blood, Sam cohorting with demons, Sam with a wall, Sam losing the wall, Sam, Sam, Sam
I will be glad when Dean no longer has to angst over Sam and can actually have a story of his own that has nothing to do with Sam.
I’ll be glad if Carver brings Cas back permenantly, instead of getting rid of him so that Dean could focus only on Sam.
I’ll just be glad that Gamble is gone and that Carver may be more neutral and doens’t turn season 8 into another season of Samnatural.
The last thing I want to see is more stories of Sam’s epic manpain while Dean’s hell story was completely ignored.
Most of all, I want the Dean and Cas profound bond back.
If there’s going to be an eight season, then I’m very glad of this change. I think the Gamble-Singer combination is ruining the show, I hope Carver brings back what we used to love about it.
I think Carver has much more respect for Kripke’s plan than Gamble does, so I’m glad this is happening. However, I hope Season 8 will be the final season and that Kripke will return to the show, and write the series finale.
Just for the record, all of these people complaining that there is too much focus on Sam’s storyline. Jared Padileki is the first name on the opening credits. It always has been. Nowof course the focus is mostly on the brothers, it’s Jared Padileki who is the shows main, main, character.
Ya estoy emocionada por la octava temporada.Quiero, sugiero, necesito que resuciten a Bobby,es que es fundamental, para los hermanos y con Castiel forman un grupo SUPERGENIAL!!!!!!!
Supernatural is Sam and Dean’s story not Castiel and Dean’s first of all. Second the angsty Dean thing is because he is both Sam’s Mom and Dad and any good parent would freak if they thought their child was going down the wrong path. And any good child would rebel for something they thought was good or right (even if it turned out to be wrong later doesn’t make a good kid bad). BOTH Winchesters have made mistakes but the love that binds them is a force that can’t be measured. I hope they fill in holes in the series such as: Sam’s REAL heaven (Because I know the angels messed with his heaven in Darkside of the Moon to drive a wedge between the brothers (even Cas played his part in telling Dean the Samulet was worthless right after he’d felt so betrayed) and if you watch you can see that Sam caught on also when he and Dean popped into the night he left for Stanford. I believe Dean IS Sam’s heaven and the angels and if you look at Sam’s face when Dean drops the Samulet into the trash you know his heart is broken), Ash tell’s the brothers they’re soulmates (not in an eew Wincest way either but in the way a good loving parent and child should be bound to spend an eternity in heaven together)(like I said Dean was Both Sam’s mom and Dad and all of Sam’s REAL good experiences and memories had Dean as a part of them (hence flashback in Swan Song), Cas tells Dean he will have an eternity of peace in heaven even with Sam (again says Sam and Dean will be in heaven together forever)(but Dean has to have faith) Michael tells Dean free will is an illusion and Lucifer tells Dean that the future Zachariah shows him in The End is and always has been inevitable despite what choices he and Sam have made or will make, Joshua tells them GOD doesn’t care and won’t intervine, Chuck (supposedly GOD) writes that in The End that Sam and Dean do alright and CHOOSE family over everything (we think that’s the end of Swan Song but I believe ONLY what we see him writing at the beginning is Swan Song and that in between he could have written like 500 books before writing that ending (He IS suposedly GOD after all!) Think about this forces in the Winchester brothers lives have been trying to drive a wedge between them and force them onto opposite sides of the board since before they were even born (heck before man was even created Sam and Dean’s fates had already been written) Cas may have been just playing his part this WHOLE time (he didn’t let Sam and Dean bow to him for a reason)(and it wasn’t cause they wouldn’t have meant it) and the realeasing of the Leviathan is just to propel the brothers to that eventual fate they’ve been trying so hard to fight (but it’s not about them personally persay just that everyone has a part to play and when it’s over Sam and Dean can get a hero’s welcome in heaven where all of their friends and loved ones will REALLY be there to tell them this was always were their road (their path to THEIR heaven was a road) was leading) I believe Azazel (yellow eyed demon) was really once an angel that fell from heaven (one of the originals to fall with Lucifer) and that Sam’s psychic powers never went away(something bent that spoon) but that possibly the blood that flows in his veins turned him into a powerfull angel/demon/human hybred (remember Sam’s body was in hell to but only an hour on earth) the second he hit the flames of hell and that the wall death put up only repressed his powers (again something that puts Sam and Dean at odds with eachother is the “demon” blood thing (the angels knew what was happening with Sam and could have ganked Ruby at any time (but like I said EVERYONE had a part to play to propel the Winchesters to their destiny) but instead they threaten SAM’S life and make Dean responsible for stopping his brother (and does anyone else think it’s fishy that Sam tells Chuck (GOD) he wishes he could stop then he’s suddenly being locked in Bobby’s panic room to detox only to be released at the hight of his jonesing and that he can’t really make a choice (he’s not in his right mind) which leads to Dean calling Sam a monster which helped drive in that wedge a little further all as a test of the fabric that is the Winchester brothers bond because the angels thought only way could get THEIR apocolypse was to try and shred that bond) The fact that Sam came back without a soul also served a purpose of putting the brothers at odds with eachother and then Sam’s mental problems that followed (funny though because Sam’s been “seeing things” since the beginning of the series (Jessica on a corner for instance) showing maybe he’s never been completly mentally stable (his life was SERIOUSLY f***’d up after all I mean he had yellow eyes bleed into his mouth and pinned and burned his mom right above him at just 6mos old)(then to find out EVERYTHING EVERY SH**Y A** THING that’s happened in his life (actually before his life because his parents wouldn’t have even loved eachother if not for the intervention of a cupid) was because he was destined to be ridden by freakin Lucifer, just saying that HAS to f a person in the head so bad till they don’t know which way is up) (So Sam DESERVES to be the center of Dean’s world because Dean is the ONLY REAL THING in his that’s good (that he can keep unconditionally) (and the themes of the series tells us that continuously) and to have EVERYTHING trying to rip that away from BOTH of them is heartbreaking (but like Chuck(GOD) says in The End they BOTH do okay so that tells me that their bond will be tested (literally to hell and back) (and to heaven and back) but it won’t be broken because they’re brothers no matter what) I would like to see what happened in Sam’s hell what happened to Adam and if Walt and Roy (A.K.A. the guys that shot Sam and Dean in cold blood in Darkside of the Moon) are ever made to pay, I hope the Samulet comes back (and the Impala) I’d like maybe a body swap episode where Sam and Dean swap bodies with eachother and have eachother’s memories (maybe that’s where we can see Sam’s hell but from Dean’s P.O.V. and he can see what Sam’s REAL heaven would have been and for Dean to see how badly Sam wants to always be good and how much he really loves Dean and Sam could see how much Dean loves him. It would be good to get the close brotherly feel back between them (this could be where they bring the Samulet back) and it would also serve to show them how they’ve been being played like fiddles by BOTH heaven and hell) (I’d also like to see Dean make a choice where it suddenly doesn’t matter what side of the board Sam winds up on he’ll stand by HIS Sammy’s side anyway (not saying they go bad just maybe they can take a fight straight to heaven’s door and show that they CAN fight City Hall after all) or (they decide to start killing anything that tries to get between them (including angels) or ( they decide to fight against BOTH heaven AND hell just cause they’re p’d that their lives have been toyed with long enough) Just a few of my ideas on how they could knit the holes in the show.
everybody does see parts of the show differently and that is ok. we see alot of the same things and i think most of us are complaining about the same things. after reading most of the comments, and knowing my hopes for the show, i think its safe to say that most of us would like to see the winchester boys get their “brotherly love” back. personally, and no offense to anyone, im tired of the boys but mostly dean being a whiny baby bitch, that is what they have been turned to the last couple of seasons, and that is a writer/producer issue, also the constant riff between sam and dean is annoying. it seems like they are at odds for 1/4 of the season then in 1 episode they are back on the same team just turn around and have another issue for another 1/4 of the season. The feel of the show in seasons 1 and 2 were what made the show so awesome they need to get that back. But no matter what they do with season 8 im just happy its back. a shitty season of spn is better than no season of spn
I just think all you guys over analyze the show. Just watch it get the center points and enjoy it. I’m so fucking happy there is going (hopefully) to be a season 8 and even though i missed the 7th season sadly i plan on watching it before 8th comes out. I truly hope they decide to go though with this season and i surely hope they make it how its been and not try and change toooooo much of the story. Haven’t loved a show as much as i love this one in a long long time.
I just want to completely agree with the previous comment about you guys over analysing the show, it’s not Shakespeare for goodness sake and ur not doing a thesis on it, so sit down, have a cup of tea and enjoy. Loved tonites ep with charisma carpenter and James masters, fab to see buffy/angel stars together. Love supernatural !!!!
