Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. TV and McG’s Wonderland studio are putting together a Supernatural spin-off… but unlike some spin-offs, this one is going to the Internet.
Ghostfacers is planned to run as ten three-minute episodes on TheWB.com. Episodes will also appear on The CW’s website. Production has already begun on the spin-off.
“It felt like the nature and style of what they do with their show-within-a-show would be fun to see in new media,” said Wonderland TV’s Peter Johnson told Variety. “It’s a fun, subversive way to allow these characters to play in the margins.”
Ghostfacers will start as the crew (played by A.J. Buckley, Travis Wester, Brittany Ishibashi, and Austin Basis) investigate a theater believed to be haunted by the ghost of a young starlet (Kelly Carlson).
Writers will include A.J. Buckley, Travis Wester, Patrick Doody, and Chris Valenziano. It will be executive produced by McG, Peter Johnson, Jeff Grosvenor, Eric Kripke, and Phil Sgriccia.
