Freeform’s upfronts today brought about a flurry of news unrelated to its handful of trailers.
The long gestating sequel to 2000 Disney movie Life-Size has officially been picked up, with America’s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks set to reprise her role. Set to debut in December 2018 after originally being developed by Disney in 2012, Life-Size 2 follows a now grown-up Eve (Banks), who awakens to help a young woman in matters of life and love, all the while experiencing her own ups and downs. There’s no word yet on whether Banks’s original co-star, Lindsay Lohan, will reprise her role from the original.
Life-Size 2 was just one of a few Christmas announcements for Freeform today, which mentioned both Decorating Disney, a special dedicated to showing how the holiday comes alive at Disney’s theme parks and resorts, and TV movie Angry Angel, about a woman torn between getting back into heaven or staying with the love of her life. Angry Angel will debut this December.
Joining mermaid drama Siren in getting ordered to series is Hollywood Movie Night with Karlie Kloss, an unscripted series executive produced by Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) that features supermodel Kloss and her close friends offering commentaries on their favorite movies. There’s no word yet as to when Movie Night would air, the guests that would appear, or the movies that would be shown.
Finally, Freeform has marked its first foray into animated comedy by putting Sticks in development. Executive produced by Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), Sticks follows neurotic millennial Sticks, a pop culture obsessed 20something who lives with a giant eagle. The series will be produced by the same studio behind Crackle’s SuperMansion.
