ABC has released the official trailer for upcoming family comedy Speechless and in it, we see that sometimes you can find your place where you least expect it.

From Scott Silveri (Friends), Speechless centers on the DiMeo family, whose headstrong matriarch Maya (Minnie Driver) does everything in her power to help her son J.J., her whip-smart son with special needs. However, as good as Maya’s intentions might be, her willingness to move mountains for her boy can have consequences, as a recent move to the upscale town next door has put J.J. in mainstream school for the first time. Not only does she have to deal with letting go for the first time, Maya is soon weighed down by the knowledge that J.J. isn’t happy at school; the new aide he was assigned isn’t any fun and the students are a bit too accepting of him, their smug self-satisfaction at his mere presence almost more alienating than any bullying he might have faced. Yet as much as Maya might want to immediately pack up the family and move to another town with a school more in line with what J.J. both wants and needs, could the better solution be to stay where she is and continue fighting to help J.J. find his voice?

In addition to Driver, Speechless stars John Ross Bowie (The Big Bang Theory), Cedric Yarbrough (Reno 911!), Mason Cook (The Lone Ranger), Kyla Kenedy (The Walking Dead), and Micah Fowler (Labor Day).

Speechless is set to air Wednesdays at 8:30 this fall. You can check out ABC’s 2016-2017 schedule here.
