Deadline is reporting that History has cancelled military drama Six after two seasons. The decision, made at this point due to cast contracts expiring at the end of the week, comes as the show still has four episodes to air. All episodes of Six will air as scheduled on History, with the series finale coming in August.
The cancellation of Six comes as the show has dropped around 47% in L+SD ratings during its second season, bringing it from a solid success in season one to something whose performance was a lot more modest. Some of that drop was likely due to the show going on a hiatus that lasted over a year, but military dramas have had a rough go at it in 2018, as The CW’s Valor and NBC’s The Brave have already been cancelled. CBS’s SEAL Team has been renewed for a second season that premieres this fall, but
With the cancellation of Six, History’s scripted slate now includes Vikings; Knightfall, which remains in limbo after finishing season one earlier this year; and upcoming Blue Book.
From William (Apollo 13) and David Broyles (The River), Six chronicles the missions and daily lives of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group, a counter-terrorism unit more commonly referred to as SEAL Team Six.
The series starred Barry Sloane (Revenge), Kyle Schmid (Copper), Juan Pablo Raba (Narcos), Jaylen Moore (Homeland), Edwin Hodge (The Purge), and Walton Goggins (Justified), among others.
