Joss Whedon tonight happened to be moderator of a Q&A with Sleepwalk With Me filmmakers Ira Glass and Mike Birbiglia, and of course the topic of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Marvel Comics-related TV pilot project, came up.
Variety’s Cynthia Littleton covered the event on her Twitter feed, and here’s some of what was revealed:
– It’s not necessarily a spin-off of the Avengers movie. “It’s a S.H.I.E.L.D. thing” that is meant to be “autonomous” to film storylines. With that said, Joss reserves the right to pepper in bits here and there. (Pepper, eh?)
– Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen will be the “actual showrunners” of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Joss “will show up every now and then and take credit for everything.”
What do you all think of the production of S.H.I.E.L.D. as what will hopefully be the first modern Marvel TV series? Come talk about it on the KSiteTV Forum and follow KSiteTV’s S.H.I.E.L.D.-centric Twitter feed for more updates as they come!
