Manu Bennett, who plagued Oliver Queen on The CW’s Arrow, has been cast as the druid Allanon in the MTV adaptation of Terry Brooks’ The Elfstones of Shannara.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news yesterday. Here’s how they describe his character:
Bennett will play Allanon, a druid who is the last of his kind in the world of Shannara. He is described as a wise, perceptive and serious man who knows something incredibly important has begun when the wise tree Ellcrys starts to die. He enlists Wil (Austin Butler) to fulfill his destiny and save the four lands.
Austin Butler is, of course, the Carrie Diaries and Life Unexpected star who has recently been recurring on Bennett’s old show, Arrow, as a DJ named “Chase.” Perhaps these two actors will meet when Bennett returns to Arrow for episode #3.14, so Slade Wilson can do to Chase what we were all hoping people would do to Chase from his first appearance.
Showrunners for Shannara will be Smallville’s Miles Millar and Al Gough. The first season will consist of ten episodes.
