While press is taking on the cast of Shadowhunters at the New York Comic Con, we have been given the go-ahead to start sharing some of our interviews from the Toronto sets of the series. The bulk of the interviews will run closer to the air date, but if you want previews with key quotes, you’re in luck.

The first spotlight of the day falls on the series’ lead, Katherine McNamara, who plays Clary Fray in the TV series based on the Mortal Instruments book series, as we ask her where we find Clary as the show begins.
“When we first find Clary in the TV series, she is walking into her final interview for the Brooklyn Academy of Art,” she says. “She is a headstrong, independent art student living in Brooklyn with her mother, and she has her best friend Simon who is an accounting student at NYU, and she’s living her life as normal.”
“That’s kind of the charm of Clary,” she continues. “She would be a perfectly fine individual if she were just left to her mundane life. But, there are greater things in store for her.”
Check out a preview of the interview below. As mentioned above, more will be posted closer to launch and more individual character/actor interviews will be posted throughout the weekend.
Shadowhunters premieres January 12, 2016 on Freeform (formerly ABC Family). You can find all of our Shadowhunters coverage so far posted here.
