Deadline is reporting that newcomer Josh Kidd has been cast in The CW’s fantasy pilot Searchers. He’ll be playing former military pilot Paul “Zin” Shepherd, who joins a righteous cause for a paycheck only to stick around for more personal reasons.
From The 100‘s Jason Rothenberg and set to begin production in South Africa, Searchers follows siblings Cooper (Zane Holtz) and Fable (Alex McGregor) 10 years removed from the mysterious disappearance of their parents. Whereas pragmatic tech innovator Cooper has mostly given up the ghost, free-spirited Fable has hung on to the hope that she’ll see their parents once again. The two get an unexpected lead when Fable learns that the stories their mother once told them, at first seeming terrifying and bizarre, are really a road map to discovering the great legends, myths and unexplainable mysteries of the world. And, most importantly of all, they could provide the answers as to the whereabouts of their parents and what really happened a decade ago.
Should Searchers get picked up to series, this would mark Kidd’s first television credit of any kind. He’s previously appeared in indie comedy Let It Go and short Jackrabbit, both released in 2014 and both from Tom Wilton.
Searchers is one of six CW pilots currently in contention for series order, joining soapy reboot Dynasty, beauty pageant drama Insatiable, cancer dramedy Life Sentence, military drama Valor, and DC-verse entrant Black Lightning. Casting for every project should continue over the next few weeks, while decisions on which pilots will make it to the 2017-18 schedule should come down in early May.
