CBS has announced that scheduled originals for newbie military drama SEAL Team and venerable veteran Criminal Minds have been pulled to avoid going up (what should be) gigantic ratings for game 7 of the World Series. Instead, the network will be airing two repeats of SEAL Team following an original episode of Survivor.
Considering that CBS shows tend to skew older and have a larger casual audience, it’s a good move for the network. It gets two potentially vulnerable shows out of the path of the sports hurricane that scrambled ratings last night and saves originals to air in a more favorable climate. They’re the first of the Big Five to dodge game 7, but considering the strength that the World Series has shown, it wouldn’t be a shock to see another network join CBS on the sidelines.
Originally, the network was going to air “The Spinning Wheel,” where the SEAL team was forced to work with Jason’s rival Beau, and “The Bunker,” where the BAU team tries to find the common link between a string of missing women. Instead, here are the listings for the two SEAL Team episodes CBS will be repeating:
9:00 “Other Lives”
While on an evidence-collecting mission in Syria, Jason and the SEAL Team find innocent civilians in desperate need of rescue just as enemy forces close in on them. Also, while on the mission, the team debates whether or not to tell Ray that his wife has gone into labor.
10:00 “Boarding Party”
Jason and the SEAL team must rescue a group of researchers being held hostage on a ship in the South China Sea. Also, Clay is ranked in the “bottom five” of his class, jeopardizing his future as a SEAL.
