WGN America has released three new looks at the upcoming third season of Salem and in them, we see that the reign of the Dark Lord isn’t going as the witches expected.
The entire point of the Grand Rite was that the witches were going to create their own utopia by exploiting (and subsequently destroying) Puritanical hypocrisy. Through the laborious process of spilling innocent blood and preying upon the paranoia already present in their town, they would build a world where they could openly practice and not have to worry about judgment or, worse, death. However, raising the Dark Lord only makes things in Salem worse, as his plan is not focused on fostering a relationship with the witches or building a society free of the debilitating weakness of the Puritans; it’s centered on the destruction of humanity itself. Satan seemingly has free reign to set about the implosion of life on Earth, but there remains one person who can foil his plan and save humanity – his mother, Mary Sibley.
From Brannon Braga and Adam Simon (Terra Nova), Salem stars Janet Montgomery (Human Target), Shane West (Nikita), Ashley Madekwe (Revenge), Seth Gabel (Arrow), and Tamzin Merchant (The Tudors).
The third season of Salem is set to premiere Wednesday, November 2nd on WGN America. You can check out an extended trailer for season three here.
