Riverdale is doing another musical this year — and this time, it’s Heathers: The Musical, brought to you by “The Farm!”
The episode will air Wednesday, Match 20 on The CW, and will feature nine songs.
Here’s how they describe it:
In the classic 1989 film, Westerberg High is ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunchie-wearing junta: Heather, Heather, and Heather, the hottest and cruelest girls in all of Ohio. But misfit Veronica Sawyer rejects their evil regime for a new boyfriend, the dark and sexy stranger J.D., who plans to put the Heathers in their place – six feet under.
“Last year, we had a blast doing ‘Carrie.’ This year, we wanted to honor another iconic teen movie. ‘Heathers: The Musical’ is BIG FUN, with great roles for the Riverdale kids,” executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said in a statement. “And everyone is singing…”
Below, you can find a picture of Madelaine Petsch channeling HBIC Heather Chandler as she breaks the news to Kevin what the spring production will be. The still is from episode #3.15 “American Dreams” airing March 13. Under that you can find a cast list for the musical; notice that Archie Andrews is on the list, so no, he is not dead.
Dare we to hope this is the Shannen Doherty/Luke Perry we’ve been wanting for 25 years? I mean, she has been in more than one incarnation of Heathers… make it happen, Roberto!
