Tonight’s episode of Riverdale starts with something we all expected to be a surprise, but now that the secret is out on social media, we can talk about it: We get to see the characters in classic Archie Comics style by way of a dream sequence.
We spoke to Camila Mendes (Veronica) at the Riverdale set in Vancouver where she briefly enthused about what it was like to shoot this scene.
“It was so fun!” she exclaimed. “It just felt so exciting to get into the old characters and really feel like you’re portraying the core of who those characters are…but it was also within that dreamlike context so it’s a little creepy, a little Stepford Wives-y, and it’s really fun.”
The creepiest, by far, is how much a Stepford Wives Betty resembles her mother, Alice… but characters like Jason and Polly sitting around the dinner table is also a bit surprising. Archie has his big “R” shirt. And Jughead… let’s just say fans will be really, really happy.
