Berlanti shows love doing this: They got 1990 Flash John Wesley Shipp to play the modern Barry Allen’s father. Over on Supergirl, they recruited both Dean Cain and Helen Slater to play Kara’s adoptive parents. So who better to play Archie’s dad than someone who’s played Archie himself?
