The CW has cast the lead in their new pilot Reign, which is a story about Mary, Queen Of Scots and her rise to power as she arrives in France at age 15. It’s said it’s a “secret history of survival” that will involve “fierce foes, dark forces, and a world of sexual intrigue.”
I’m not sure a period piece going that far back would be that interesting, but The CW seems to think it might be.
The pilot will be shooting in Europe, and now according to Deadline they have their lead actress: Adelaide Kane, who is soon to appear in Season 3 of MTV’s Teen Wolf. She was also in Power Rangers RPM, which should mean those fans all would know who she is by now. While portraits of the real Mary, Queen Of Scots appear to be somewhat homely, obviously this is not the case here. Looking at Ms. Kane’s picture, one might wonder why she hadn’t just been cast for Amazon.
Reign, like many others, is hoping for a spot on The CW’s Fall 2013 schedule, which will be announced in May.
