TNT’s Falling Skies has consistently been one of the “new scripted TV” treats of any given summer, and the fourth season premiere, “Ghost In The Machine,” airs tonight (June 22).
I admit, I had fallen a little behind on Falling Skies last year, but fortunately, the premiere gets me pretty well caught up. That’s a good thing, because, after all, it has been about ten months since anyone saw a new installment. The premiere hits the ground running, as various characters from the show are all separated into different areas, unaware of where they end up. The trailers may give away some of those places.
Falling Skies Season 4 introduces a savior/vigilante called “The Ghost” which is probably the “Ghost in the Machine” from the episode’s title.
The younger people get some of the most interesting material from the season premiere. Lourdes takes on a new reaction to a very different Lexi, and Ben plays the older brother figure while interacting with Maggie a bit more than usual. Elsewhere, Pope is hoarding and Matt gets himself into the equivalent of an alien Nazi camp. And just wait until you meet Scarlett Byrne’s character!
The show has a new showrunner with this season, so the tone is a little bit different, but not far from the Falling Skies and the characters that people have come to love.
All in all, it’s a great place to jump on, and I’m curious to see where Season 4 takes the show. Welcome back, Falling Skies.
Falling Skies airs Sundays at 10PM (ET) on TNT.
