Tonight brings us a new episode of About A Boy at 9PM (ET) on NBC.
NBC hosted a screening for the episode a few weeks ago, and to be completely honest: This was the first episode of the show that I’d actually seen. Yep, not even the pilot was seen before the screening. However, it was on the strength of this week’s show as well as the next one that got me curious to check out what I had missed On Demand.
In only a few episodes, About A Boy has already built on the chemistry of the various characters. “About A Plumber” Fiona starting to date a plumber, which of course puts Marcus’ attempts at connecting Will and Fiona at a higher priority. There’s a scene in a restaurant that illustrates many of the reason why this show works and why the character relationships work. By episode’s end, you’re pretty sure where Will fits in the scheme of things. We also see the hilarious aftermath of what happens when Will tells Marcus about the birds and the bees. The show is quickly becoming a must-watch and tonight’s episode is a perfect example of why. The cast is really gelling as well, from uptight Fiona (Minnie Driver) to David Walton’s free spirit Will… but of course Benjamin Stockham is the huge standout as the wise-beyond-his-years Marcus, the glue that keeps this “family” together.
Here is NBC’s official description for the episode:
MARCUS HAS PLANS FOR WILL AND FIONA FINALLY DANGLES HER TOES IN THE DATING POOL-When Marcus (Benjamin Stockham) starts hinting that Will (David Walton) and Fiona (Minnie Driver) should start dating each another, Will does everything in his power to set him straight. Meanwhile, Fiona gets advice from Dakota (guest star Leslie Bibb) to get back into the dating scene, and with very little game, seizes the opportunity by asking out her plumber – with results she didn’t quite anticipate.

Love this show and Growing Up Fisher. One of my man’s best friends is a blind man, so Growing Up Fisher has had personal relevance.
About A Boy is hilarious. Marcus is such a sweet and earnest kid, and he’s already making a difference in Will’s life.
