Since joining her side of the cartel wars, Teresa has continually proven her loyalty to Camila, so much so that Camila looked to Teresa and not James for updates regarding their progress in Chicago. Not only does Camila see a bit of herself in her underling, whether it be Teresa’s resourcefulness or hunger to get to the top, she knows that loyalty in the drug game is hard to come by; when you find it, you have to hold on to it lest you open yourself up for an inevitable downfall. This is especially true considering Camila’s precarious position recently and the weight that the joint task force has placed on her operation. But can Camila and Teresa’s relationship help save their lives when things get dicey?
On the next episode of Queen of the South, an uncharacteristic blunder sends Teresa and Camila on the run with vicious hit men nipping at their heels. Just as Camila, whose determination to succeed was reignited by her hospital encounter with Epifanio, was about to secure distribution with Devon Finch, she has Colonel Cortez going rogue and trying to take her out without word from Epifanio. For as much as she and Epifanio are at each other’s throats, there’s too much love and history there for him to order a hit regardless of what she might’ve done, but that doesn’t change the fact that he surrounded himself with someone unhinged and dangerous enough to pull something like this off. Yet for as tough a situation as they’re in, Teresa has something in her back pocket that, if used correctly, could save herself – the DEA. Of course, Teresa has grown closer with Camila and doesn’t want to throw her under the bus, but if their lives are in enough danger, or if Isabella finds herself in peril after crossing paths with them while they’re on the run, she might have no other choice than to pull the ripcord and get them both out of the line of fire.
Queen of the South airs Thursdays at 10:00 on USA.
Can Teresa and Camila escape the hit men that’ve been sent after them? How will the experience of running from their would-be assassins impact Teresa and Camila’s relationship? Could Guero’s disappearance empower Teresa in her journey to becoming queenpin?
