According to The Hollywood Reporter, Primetime Emmy nominee Judith Light (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story) will recur on upcoming Facebook beauty pageant dark comedy Queen America. She’ll be playing Regina, the former pageant coach of Vicki (Catherine Zeta-Jones) who represents everything Vicki aspires to be. Their toxic dynamic is fueled by their history together and Regina’s continued success.
From Meaghan Oppenheimer (Fear the Walking Dead), Queen America follows renowned Oklahoma pageant coach Vicki Ellis as she takes beautiful but unpolished Samantha Stone (Bella Shouse) under her wing in hopes of producing a champion. The series is one of two pageant-adjacent scripted series to premiere in the coming months, with Netflix’s Insatiable already causing a controversy after its first trailer was released.
In addition to the FX limited series, Light has appeared on the likes of Ugly Betty, Transparent, and Dallas.
Queen America joins a burgeoning scripted slate for Facebook that includes teen dramas SKAM Austin and Five Points, as well as upcoming cult drama Sacred Lies and Elizabeth Olsen vehicle Sorry for Your Loss.
