Make that three DC/Vertigo comic book series currently confirmed to be in development for television.
Adding to a list that already includes iZombie and DMZ, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed today that AMC will be adapting the popular Preacher series about Jesse Custer, and as had been rumored, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will be teaming up with Breaking Bad’s Sam Catlin to bring it to life.
Preacher is about a preacher (shocking, right?) who loses his faith, learns that God has left Heaven, and has started forsaking his duties until he finds out that he is the only one who can track God down. He teams up with friends including a vampire ex-girlfriend on his quest for answers. The series is sprinkled with some other memorable characters, including the Saint of Killers and the unforgettable Arseface.
AMC has put a “hefty commitment” on the project, which THR says had multiple bidders.
“This is amazing! We’ve tried for seven years to work on Preacher and we’re so psyched AMC is finally letting us. It is our favorite comic of all time, and we’re going to do everything we can to do it right. Humperdoo!” Rogen and Goldberg said in a statement posted at THR.
