Deadline is reporting that NBC has given a pilot order to multi-cam comedy Uninsured, which was originally developed as a single cam.
From Dan Levy (Schooled), Uninsured follows Dave and Rebecca, a young couple who end up having to take care of Dave’s parents after the older duo mishandle their finances and subsequently need help paying off a sizable debt. The series is said to tackle the issue of health insurance, as the show’s family isn’t covered.
Uninsured is the third comedy pilot NBC has ordered for 2019-20, joining Kenan Thompson vehicle Saving Kenan and Like Magic, which centers on a young woman trying to become a magician. Casting for the pilot should be announced in the coming weeks, as should NBC’s additional comedy pilot orders. Last year, the network wound up ordering seven pilot, picking two (I Feel Bad and Abby’s) up to series due to renewing A.P. Bio and rescuing Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
