Variety is reporting that famed magician Criss Angel will be guest starring on NBC comedy pilot Like Magic. He’ll be playing Trent, the leader of the Ministry of Magic.
From Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu (Superstore), Like Magic follows an optimistic young woman (Jee Young Han) as she pursues her dream of becoming a headlining magician at the Magic Palace.
Most known on television for his A&E reality series Criss Angel Mindfreak, Criss has guest starred as himself on the likes of Rules of Engagement, Dice, and Las Vegas, as well as appearing on CSI: NY and Grandfathered playing magicians. There’s no word yet on whether Angel would move up to recurring status should Like Magic be ordered to series.
Were that to happen, he’d join a cast that includes Freddie Stroma (UnREAL), Hayley Magnus (The Dressmaker), French Stewart (Mom), and Mike Lane (Nobodies).
Like Magic is part of a comedy pilot slate for NBC made up of multi-cam Friends-in-Law, which was rolled over from the 2018 development season; The Kenan Show, starring Kenan Thompson as a widower who realizes he can’t move past this recent trauma on his own; musical comedy Perfect Harmony; Sunnyside, about a New York councilman who finds his purpose working with immigrants; Uninsured, which features Steven Weber and Fran Drescher; and newspaper comedy Village Gazette.
